Inspired by the whimsical blue oxen flying over Shtetls in Marc Chagall paintings, the ever present use of Israeli concrete blockades on Palestinian roads, I created Barricade. Made of over 80 life size paper mache donkeys, this site specific piece was swallowed by the Earth when a sinkhole opened beneath the storage space I was renting in Richmond, VA in 2011.
