Curated by Kasia Basta, The Decline of Outdoor Skate-ability was commissioned by Stewart Hall Art Center in Pointe, Claire, Montreal as part of the 2017 Geopoetique Exhibition.
This piece illustrates a graph generated by RINKWATCH– a research team from Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. This speculative graph shows the decline in days that people will be able to skate outdoors in 4 Canadian cities; Toronto, Calgary, Montreal and Winnipeg, from the years 2013-2090 if carbon emissions remain as they currently are and the climate continues to warm at its current pace.
